Fluoride
Pete Wilson required the addition of fluoride to all municipalities in California in 1996. Our reverse osmosis systems do reduce the fluoride content in the water (95-99% rejection rate).

Will my kids will get cavaties if take the fluoride out?

Whether you need Fluoride in your water is something for you to decide, based on the information you get from the resources you trust.  Like any controversial issue, there are studies supporting both sides and experts backing both positions. Many of our RO customers have their children apply fluoride topically or take homeopathic doses of fluoride. You could talk to your dentist, chiropractor or alternative practitioner about that.

Most people who are using these systems feel that fluoride can be a health detriment, especially older people who are at risk for osteoporosis, and that we are exposed to far too much fluoride as it is, which puts us at risk for brittle bones (osteoporosis) and fluorodosis (yellowing and weakening of the teeth later in life).

For further information, articles on the health hazards of fluoride can be obtained at The Water Store or online.  It is important to know that the amount of fluoride in our municipal water is way within the EPA MCL (4ppm), less than 2ppm.

For those who want fluoride for their children, but also want to remove harmful metals, homeopathic Fluoride supplementation is available, recommended for children up to 6 yrs. old. (‘Standard Brands’ makes a good one.)

Article from 'Water Tech Online':
WATER INDUSTRY NEWS Study links drinking-water fluoride to low IQ scores in children Wednesday, December 22, 2010 NEW YORK — Results of a new study recently pre-published in Environmental Health Perspectives suggests that exposure to fluoride may lower children’s intelligence, according to a press release.

In this study, 512 children aged 8-13 years in two Chinese villages were studied and tested — Wamaio with an average of 2.47 mg/L water fluoride and Xinhuai averaging 0.36 mg/L.
About 28 percent of the children in the low-fluoride area scored as bright, normal or higher intelligence compared to only 8 percent in the high-fluoride area of Wamaio, the release stated.
In the high-fluoride city, 15 percent had scores indicating mental retardation and only 6 percent in the low-fluoride city.
“This is the 24th study that has found this association, but this study is stronger than the rest because the authors have controlled for key confounding variables and in addition to correlating lowered IQ with levels of fluoride in the water, the authors found a correlation between lowered IQ and fluoride levels in children’s blood,” said Paul Connett, Ph.D., director of the Fluoride Action Network. “This brings us closer to a cause and effect relationship between fluoride exposure and brain damage in children.”
